About IECED

IECED is a not-for-profit non-governmental organization driven by the mission of transforming Kerala society into an entrepreneurial society. IECED's approach to entrepreneurship goes beyond the conventional approach of creating a few entrepreneurs or helping to set up a few industrial units. Instead it seeks to alter the values and attitudes of mainstream Malayalee culture that stand in the way of Kerala emerging as an entrepreneurial society. Deeply rooted in Malayalee ethos, IECED's approach aims at consolidating and strengthening the achievements of what is internationally known as the 'Kerala Model of Development'.

IECED's activities are premised on the conviction that unless entrepreneurship becomes a societal value, the very existence of individual entrepreneurs in the state will be at peril. As the Vision Statement eloquently declares, IECED is in search of a model of entrepreneurship that combines productivity, efficiency and competitiveness with a strong commitment on the part of entrepreneurs to the larger concerns of the society like growing educated unemployment, marginalization of disadvantaged sections, environmental degradation, alienation of indigenous culture etc.

IECED's interventions in the form of studies, advocacy, publications, training and support services to entrepreneurs are oriented towards this larger objective.

IECED is networking with national resource organizations like Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India(EDII) and National Institute of Small Industries Extension(NISIET), Hyderabad and state level organizations like MSME Development Institute, Thrissur under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India. IECED collaborates with Kerala State Small Industries Association(KSSIA) and various chambers of commerce and industries. Dr. Jose Sebastian, Director acted as Honorary Executive Committee Member of (KSSIA). Currently he is Honorary Executive Committee Member of Thiruvananthapuram District Committee of KSSIA.
